  In Indic languages, Right Wing is called "Dakshinpanthi". One would wonder when "Dakshina" means SOUTH, how come RIGHT WING became "Dakshinpanthi"? Well, it comes from ancient traditions. In the Indic/Vedic system of cardinal directions, EAST (Purva) was the prime cardinal direction since everything was linked to the sun and its path. When you face EAST then SOUTH is on your RIGHT. That is how in Sanskrit, both SOUTH and RIGHT are called "DAKSHINA" "Dahina" (दाहिना)—and its variations like Dahina in Hindi, Dahin in Bhojpuri, or Dan (ডান) in Bengali—is a direct linguistic descendant of the Sanskrit "Dakshina" (दक्षिण).
