OPINION..............
Now that Christmas has become Good Governance Day, will The Bearded Lion and his Vanar Sena implement these decisions?
1. Milad-un-Nabi is to be celebrated as National Tolerance Day. Islam, according to its adherents, is a religion of peace. So everyone is to come to work on that day, and work towards inter religious harmony.
2. Ram Navami is to be celebrated as Administrative Excellence Day; I suggest this as all of us, especially those in the BJP have been clamouring for Ram Rajya, which I understand is a synonym for Utopia. Here I have made the (reasonable I hope) assumption that the administration would have been excellent in Lord Rama’s time. All, and that includes the Bearded Lion, should assemble in their offices one hour before normal working time, catch up with all pending work, and set deadlines for work which has not been completed. Of course, this day and all other days discussed below are to be FULL WORKING DAYS
3. Janmashtami to be celebrated as National Undertrial Prisoners' Day; after all, our Lord was born in a prison - his parents didn't even get a fair trial. All are to come to work, then visit the prisons and work towards improving the lot of undertrials and women who have been denied justice. Attendance will be marked.
4. Mahavir Jayanthi to be celebrated as National Self Control Day. All MLAs and MPs (this includes all ministers) are to go on a fast. Of course, the holiday should be revoked, especially in Gujarat if nowhere else.
5. Diwali MUST be made a working day, and designated as National Truthfulness Day. All people who cheat on their income taxes are to come forward and declare their taxes. This of course applies mainly to traders, shopkeepers, stock market and hawala operators . Of course, this must be a FULL WORKING day. Oh, and before I forget – no stock trading that day, let the poor guys rest!
5. Vijayadasami when the Goddess Durga returns to her abode in the Himalayas must now be the National Women’s Day. Everyone is to come to work on that day to work on programs relating to women empowerment, adult literacy and the girl child. This must be a working day especially in Bengal.
6. Guru Nanak's birthday is to be celebrated as Spiritual Day. Guru Nanak had taken the best from both Hinduism and Islam. This holiday must be revoked, especially in Punjab where it must be made a working day.
7. Onam is to be celebrated as National Harvest Day. All parliamentarians are to work in the field that day. No holiday for anyone, especially in Kerala – EVERYONE and his brother to work in the fields. Oh, and before I forget, no liquor in Kerala for a full week BEFORE and AFTER Onam.
The above are just a set of days. I am sure we can come up with a lot more holiday substitution.
If the government is not going to implement this, then it is crystal clear that by declaring Christmas as a working day, its intentions are to foment disharmony. The Christians are in no position to influence the elections except in Kerala and pockets in the North East, so let’s kick them. Why? Just like that, because we don’t have anything else to do.
Harassing people who can’t stand up to you is the sign of a bully. The Prime Minister has shown that he is a Grade A bully who has absolutely nothing to show for all the bluff and bluster that got him elected. He and his semi literate bunch of goons and thugs are going to systematically lay waste this grand country by embarking on programs which have absolutely no justification be it moral, political, legal or social!
I am really sorry that I voted for them. At that time getting rid of Macaroni and her idiot son was top priority. Looks like we are caught between Soorpanakha and Mahishasura!
Gaay hamari mata hai, aage kuchh nahin aata hai.
