ISIS AND ISIS

 INTERESTING..........

Mossad’s full Hebrew name is "HaMossad LeModi'in U'LeTafkidim Meyuchadim" (The Institute for Intelligence and Special Operations). Mossad in Hebrew means "Institute" thus the secret service name shortened to Mossad.

המוסד למודיעין ולתפקידים מיוחדים (Right-to-Left)

המוסד: Ha-Mossad (The Institute)
למודיעין: Le-Modi'in (for Intelligence)
ולתפקידים: U'Le-Tafkidim (and for Operations)
מיוחדים: Meyuchadim (Special)

(Note Modi's name in Mossad 😄)

Mossad is also known as ISIS

The ISIS abbreviation comes from a British legacy.

In early English-language intelligence literature, declassified Western diplomatic cables, and historical books published from the 1970s through the 1990s, foreign agencies frequently translated Mossad simply as the Israeli Secret Intelligence Service.

British MI-6 is officially known as "Secret Intelligence Service". Like the United Kingdom's MI6, which is formally called the Secret Intelligence Service (SIS), the name Secret Intelligence Service (SIS) is written into UK law (specifically the Intelligence Services Act 1994), and it serves as the official designation for Britain's foreign intelligence agency. The Western press called Mossad as Israeli SIS, thus ISIS.

This abbreviation was completely abandoned in the early 2010s to avoid any confusion with the jihadist terrorist organization, the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

Interestingly, the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) is officially DAESH/DAISH ie al-Dawla al-Islamiyya fī al-ʿIrāq wa-sh-Shām

Daesh (داعش) (Right-to-Left)

Dāl (د) al-Dawla (The State)
Alif (أ) al-Islamiyya (Islamic)
ʿAyn (ع) al-ʿIrāq (in Iraq)
Shīn (ش) wa-sh-Shām (and Syria/the Levant)

In traditional Arabic linguistic culture, acronyms are quite rare, which already makes the word sound strange or manufactured. More importantly, "Daesh" sounds almost identical to a couple of highly insulting Arabic words:
Daes (دعس): "One who crushes or tramples underfoot."
Dahis (داحس): "One who sows discord" or "a bigot who forces his views on others."

Because of these highly negative connotations, the group completely banned the word in territories under its control. When they held major cities like Mosul and Raqqa, they threatened to cut out the tongue of anyone caught using the word "Daesh" in public.

NOTE: Over time more and more evidence has emerged about the involvement of ISIS in ISIS
