The woman in the photo is Usha Narayanan (born Tint Tint), and the child she is holding is her daughter, Chitra Narayanan. Taken in the late 1950s during K. R. Narayanan's diplomatic postings and travel with Indian Airlines within India, capturing Usha traveling with their young daughter.

Usha Narayanan (1922–2008): Born in Yamethin, Burma (Myanmar), as Tint Tint, she met her husband K. R. Narayanan (who later became the 10th President of India, serving from 1997 to 2002) while he was posted in Rangoon as an Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer. They married in 1951, after which she adopted the name Usha. She was a prominent social worker, translator, and later the First Lady of India.

Chitra Narayanan: Born in 1952, she followed in her father's footsteps into the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) in 1976. She served as India's ambassador to several nations, including Sweden, Latvia, Turkey, and Liechtenstein

In 2007, the Government of India decided to merge Air India and Indian Airlines into a unified state entity under National Aviation Company of India Limited (NACIL). The operational merger proceeded gradually, with Indian Airlines' "IC" flight codes and branding officially retiring on February 26, 2011, fully integrating its fleet, routes, and personnel into Air India.
