RSS CLAIMS TO BE DEFENDER OF HINDU SANSKRITI

Hindu culture has a saying: feed someone, give charity, or offer alms—do it in secret. This concept is deeply rooted in Hindu philosophy and is formally known as Gupta Dāna (secret or anonymous charity).

The head of the world's largest anonymous NGO is publicizing it by feeding 100,000 plates of food in New York.

Chapter 17 of the Bhagavad Gita categorizes Dāna (charity) into three types based on the Gunas (qualities of nature):

Sattvic Dāna (Pure Charity): Given out of duty, without expecting anything in return, at the right time and place, and to a worthy person—ideally without seeking recognition or publicity.

Rajasic Dāna (Impure/Self-Serving Charity): Given reluctantly, in expectation of a return favor, or for public praise, status, and recognition.

Tamasic Dāna (Ignorant Charity): Given disrespectfully, at an inappropriate place or time, or to an unworthy cause.

When charity is publicized, it feeds the donor's ego and pride. Anonymous giving (Gupta Dāna) ensures that the act remains purely spiritual, dissolving the sense of "I am the giver" and reinforcing that one is merely an instrument of a higher power.

गोपनीयं च यद्दानं प्रच्छन्नं च यदाचरणम् ।
गुप्तं भक्त्यनुष्ठानं च तस्य पुण्यमनन्तकम् ॥
(Subhashita Ratna Bhandagara)

The charity (dāna) that is given secretly, the good conduct (ācaraṇa) that is practiced unostentatiously without seeking fame, and the devotion (bhakti) performed in quiet solitude—the spiritual merit (puṇya) of these three is infinite (anantakam).

दातव्यमिति यद्दानं दीयतेऽनुपकारिणे । 
देशे काले च पात्रे च तद्दानं सात्त्विकं स्मृतम् ॥
(Bhagavad Gita 17.20)

Charity given simply because it is right to give, without expectation of anything in return, at the proper time and place, to a worthy recipient—that is considered Sattvic (pure and noble) charity.

Curiously RSS never declares its funds and source of funds by using the Gupta Dāna (secret or anonymous charity) argument and that the funds are offered directly to the Bhagwa Dhwaj (the saffron flag).
